Dear parishioners of St. Anthony and St. Stephen,
It is always a blessing to have everyone at our weekend liturgies and holy days of obligation such as the Assumption of Mary this past week. The weekend mass schedule remains the same.
Over the past two months I have engaged our priests, staff, and parishioners in a process of prayerful discernment regarding our very robust daily mass/confession schedule in our parish family. We are happy to provide the sacraments but need to make a few changes at each parish to make our efforts more sustainable including having no daily masses occur at the same time so the priests can help cover for one another on days off, retreats, illnesses, pilgrimages, other ministry in the archdiocese, vacation, etc. We have three generous priests trying to serve all needs. We also serve mass at 4 nursing homes, have regular weddings, quinceneras, baptisms, and funerals (our parish family had 80 funerals this past year).
We hope you will feel comfortable and at home in both parishes for daily mass, knowing there is morning mass at St. Anthony and evening masses at St. Stephen the Martyr throughout the week. Our neighboring parishes also have various daily masses if more convenient for your schedule including Holy Spirit in Kent, St. John in Covington, and St. Thomas in Tukwila as well as times for confession.
Daily mass is a laudable spiritual practice, but it is not a requirement of our faith. Thank you for your prayers, support and flexibility as we work towards a more sustainable schedule for all as a new parish family.
Your Servant in the Risen Christ,
Fr. Bryan Dolejsi, Pastor
