Join us for this exciting retreat opportunity designed specifically for men!
This 3-day event (Friday evening through early Sunday after-noon) will explore the challenge men face of authentically living their faith in the world today. Our presenter, Karlo Broussard of the Magis Center and retreat master Fr Ed White will team to provide a weekend rich in content and reflection.
Our Featured Presenter: Karlo Broussard
Trained by nationally known author, philosopher, and theologian Fr. Robert Spitzer S.J. PhD. and with undergraduate and graduate degrees in theology from Catholic Distance University and the Augustine Institute, Karlo Broussard works as a full time apologist and speaker for the Magis Center giving lectures throughout the country in the area of intellectual evangelization.• He is one of the most dynamic and enthusiastic Catholic speakers on the circuit today with experience in radio and television broadcasting, conference speaking, biblical seminars, audio publications and magazine articles.• To complement his zealous and energetic style, Karlo’s teachings are incredibly clear and concise, leaving audiences with an unbelievably deeper understanding of the truths of our Faith.
The Four Levels of Manhood:
Based on Fr. Spitzer’s articulation of the four levels of happiness, Karlo explains how there are four
levels of manhood. He challenges men to not settle for the lower levels involving only sensory pleasure, material stuff, and ego-satisfaction but to strive for the higher levels of sacrificial love in service of others and union with God.
Suffering: The Forging Fire of Godly Men:
In this talk, Karlo ponders perhaps the ultimate question of human existence: “How can an all-powerful and all-loving God allow suffering in the world?” Karlo explains how suffering without faith leads only to depression and despair; but suffering with the eternal perspective and an appropriate view of love and happiness leads directly to the forging of a Godly man with a faith that is life-giving and life transforming.
Becoming Defenders of Faith in an Age of Unbelief:
In this talk, Karlo brings to light some threats to faith that we face in our society and calls men to rise up and take responsibility for the duty that God has bestowed upon men, namely to be guardians of faith.
Here is a comment that came in from a gentleman who heard my talk on the 4 Levels of Manhood:
“I recently had the pleasure of hearing Mr. Broussard's presentation on the Four Levels of Manhood at the 2nd Annual Sonoma County Catholic Men’s Conference. He was the first speaker and I can confidently say that this was the very best start to a men's conference I have ever seen…His presentation was extremely well done and enthusiastically received and praised by all the attendees I spoke with. I highly recommend Mr. Broussard for any
men's conference and especially how he opened our conference. Thank you!!”
